ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number)

What is ITIN?

“ITIN” stands for Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. It is a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the United States.

An ITIN is used for individuals who are required to have a taxpayer identification number for tax purposes but are not eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN). This includes individuals who are non-resident aliens, dependents or spouses of U.S. citizens or residents, and others who have U.S. tax reporting or filing requirements but do not qualify for a SSN.

Notary Public

What is a notary public?

A notary public is a person authorized by the government to serve as a witness to the signing of important documents and to perform various official acts, such as administering oaths and affirmations. Their primary role is to verify the authenticity of signatures on legal documents and to ensure that the parties involved are who they claim to be. Notaries are responsible for preventing fraud and maintaining the integrity of documents and transactions.

Common functions and responsibilities of a notary public include:

  1. Verifying the identity of the signers.
  2. Confirming that signers understand the content of the documents they are signing.
  3. Administering oaths and affirmations when necessary.
  4. Certifying the execution of various documents, such as contracts, deeds, affidavits, and powers of attorney, by placing their official seal or stamp on the document.
  5. Maintaining a journal of notarial acts.
  6. Providing a certificate of acknowledgment or jurat, depending on the type of notarization.
